The Old Geraldton Flour Mill, Sketch

OK, so I thought I would share this one with everybody. This started as a work project that was requested from a client (I work in signage) it was intended for a billboard. The idea was to use a photograph of the old Geraldton Flour Mill. After quite a bit of hunting around, it was rather difficult to find any history on this building, let alone a suitable photograph. So I compiled what I could find and decided to sketch it instead. The background is actually flour thrown over gravel and photographed. It’s a shame the project was scrapped, but in any case it’s still something a bit different to share. For anybody who is interested in the history of this building it used to be located on Chapman Road, Geraldton. It was called the ‘Victoria District Flour Mill’. Opened in 1910 and dismantled in the 1980s.

Southgates Dunes Sunset, Geraldton

Had an amazing evening shoot yesterday with the very talented Leigh Diprose and Adrian Wayte, we decided on a hike up into the Southgates Dunes to catch the sunset. It was well worth the walk, simply breathtaking view over the water. Had a challenge stitching this panorama together from different exposures. To be able to share the scenery with like-minded people and be able to come back with something like this is awesome. Big thank you to my wife Melanie and our daughter Zoe for coming along and also snapping some great photos. More to come soon.

Nanarup Beach, Albany WA

Nanarup is just a short 30min drive from Albany town. A beautiful pristine beach located in the Two Peoples Bay National Park. Walking up the beach from the Taylor Inlet brings you to a tall windy stone staircase that leads up to the very top of the stone hill from where this picture was taken. A gorgeous sight, was well worth the breathless climb up.

Elephant Rocks Denmark WA

Elephant Rocks is an amazing place in William Bay National Park, Denmark. I was quite in awe of the colossal size of those rocks, easy to see how the place gets its name, it looks exactly like a herd of massive elephants have gathered in the bay. Beautiful area, and I was lucky enough to get a good panorama as the sun just crept out behind the rain clouds overhead. 13 image stitch!! this has to be the largest pano I’ve done.

Night Shot – Self Portrait

Another shameless self-portrait. Took this on timer release. 15sec shutter (had to stay VERY still) was pretty much dark outside apart from a bit of glow in the sky. No wind outside allowed me to light a candle and place it on the ground beneath me to give enough lighting from the front. 200 iso.

Time for something different, thought I’d share a self portrait for you. (I don’t look too happy, but I was focusing on the camera – self portraits are a bit trickier to capture than you would expect, it’s much easier to photograph other people)

We have word magnets all over our fridge, so I had fun creating a bit of a word jam.
