Another shot taken the other night right as the sun was sitting on the horizon. I liked how the light was bouncing over the water’s edge and casting the shadows from the rocks.

What better way to spend a Friday afternoon at the end of a working week, then to get out to the beach and enjoy a nice sunset. I can’t think of a better way. Taken out at Cape Burney, Greenough.

The Old Geraldton Flour Mill, Sketch

OK, so I thought I would share this one with everybody. This started as a work project that was requested from a client (I work in signage) it was intended for a billboard. The idea was to use a photograph of the old Geraldton Flour Mill. After quite a bit of hunting around, it was rather difficult to find any history on this building, let alone a suitable photograph. So I compiled what I could find and decided to sketch it instead. The background is actually flour thrown over gravel and photographed. It’s a shame the project was scrapped, but in any case it’s still something a bit different to share. For anybody who is interested in the history of this building it used to be located on Chapman Road, Geraldton. It was called the ‘Victoria District Flour Mill’. Opened in 1910 and dismantled in the 1980s.

Southgates Dunes Sunset, Geraldton

Had an amazing evening shoot yesterday with the very talented Leigh Diprose and Adrian Wayte, we decided on a hike up into the Southgates Dunes to catch the sunset. It was well worth the walk, simply breathtaking view over the water. Had a challenge stitching this panorama together from different exposures. To be able to share the scenery with like-minded people and be able to come back with something like this is awesome. Big thank you to my wife Melanie and our daughter Zoe for coming along and also snapping some great photos. More to come soon.

Geraldton Foreshore Sunset

Went down to the foreshore and took this shot tonight. Lots of people out tonight, swimming, body surfing. Been a bit of a hot one today, expecting thunderstorms, but I think the best we are getting is some heavy clouds.

Point Moore Sunset, Geraldton

Another shot taken around the same time last night, facing the other direction up the beach. Amazing how much of a difference in colour the setting sun can create depending on which way you point the lens.

Went for a bit of a drive around town last night, ended up going for a bit of a walk down on the beach out at Point Moore. Just as the sun set below the horizon, the sky lit up a brilliant pink hazy colour, ended up with this shot. Slowed the shutter down to roughly 2sec exposure to capture the movement of the waves.
